Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to fix the “Webcam or Microphone Not Ready” alert:

🔧 1. Restart the Browser or URL

  • Close and reopen the browser or the specific URL you’re using.

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can refresh permissions and reload necessary drivers.

🔒 2. Check Permissions

✅ Browser (e.g., Chrome):

  • Go to the website → Click the lock icon in the address bar → Ensure Camera and Microphone are set to Allow.

✅ Windows:

  • Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera / Microphone → Make sure access is enabled for apps and browsers.

✅ macOS:

  • System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera / Microphone → Make sure the app has permission.

🧩 3. Close Other Apps Using the Camera/Mic

  • Only one app can use your camera/mic at a time. Close any app like Zoom, Teams, Skype, etc., running in the background.

🔌 4. Check Physical Connections

  • For external webcams or mics, unplug and replug them.

  • Try a different USB port if needed.

🔁 5. Restart Your Device

  • A full reboot can fix driver or hardware conflicts.

⚙️ 6. Update Drivers or System

  • Update camera/mic drivers via Device Manager (Windows).

  • On macOS, update to the latest macOS version.

🧪 7. Test Your Camera/Mic

  • Online test tool: webcammictest.com

  • Built-in app: Use your camera app or voice recorder to check functionality.

Once you've completed the troubleshooting steps above, open the link, click the record button, and wait about 5 seconds for the camera recording to appear. Avoid clicking the record button multiple times, as this may trigger the alert again.

Still Not Working?

  • Try using a different browser or device.

  • Contact your device manufacturer or IT support if the hardware may be faulty.
