Marking an email as “not spam” (or unspam) differs slightly between email clients. Here's how you can do it on the most common ones:

1. Gmail (Web & Mobile)

Web:

  • Go to the Spam folder (on the left sidebar).

  • Open the email.

  • Click the "Not spam" button at the top.

Mobile App:

  • Tap the menu ☰ and go to Spam.

  • Open the email.

  • Tap the three dots (⋮) > "Report not spam".

2. Outlook (Web, Desktop & Mobile)

Outlook Web (Outlook.com / Office 365):

  • Go to the Junk Email folder.

  • Open the email.

  • Click "Not Junk" > Optionally select "Never block sender".

Outlook Desktop App:

  • Go to the Junk Email folder.

  • Right-click the email.

  • Choose "Junk" > "Not Junk".

  • You may be asked to always trust the sender.

Outlook Mobile App:

  • Go to Junk.

  • Open the email.

  • Tap the three dots or More, and select Move to Inbox or similar.

3. Apple Mail (iOS & macOS)

iPhone/iPad:

  • Go to the Junk folder.

  • Open the email.

  • Tap Move Message > Inbox.

Mac (macOS Mail app):

  • Go to the Junk folder.

  • Right-click the email or use the Message menu.

  • Choose "Move to Inbox" or "Mark as Not Junk".

4. Yahoo Mail

Web:

  • Go to the Spam folder.

  • Open the email.

  • Click "Not Spam" at the top.

Mobile App:

  • Open Spam, then the email.

  • Tap the three dots and select "Mark as not spam".

5. Thunderbird (Mozilla)

  • Go to the Junk folder.

  • Select the email.

  • Click the "Junk" flame icon to toggle it off.

  • You can also right-click > Mark > As Not Junk.

6. ProtonMail

  • Go to the Spam folder.

  • Open the email.

  • Click Move to Inbox or Mark as Not Spam.

Tips to Prevent Future Spam:

  • Add the sender to your contacts/safe sender list.

  • Mark false positives as "Not Spam" consistently.

  • Avoid moving spam messages directly to the inbox without marking them, as it may not train the filter.
